The Mid-State Central Early Childhood Direction Center (ECDC) is a regional clearinghouse providing information and support to families, professionals, and community agencies concerned with young children birth to five. Our primary purpose is to provide information for families and early childhood professionals. We serve the counties of Cayuga, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, and Oswego. All of our services for families are free and confidential. The Mid-State Central New York Early Childhood Direction Center provides the following services:
We are affiliated with Vocational and Educational
Services for Individuals with Disabilities' Lifelong Services Network (LSN)
and the New York State Education Department
where we are a part of a statewide network
of 15 Direction Centers.
The Early Childhood Direction Center is located at Syracuse University's Center on Human Policy.
The State Performance Plan (SPP) is a six-year plan designed to evaluate New York State's effort to implement the requirements and purposes of IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and describe how the state will improve its implementation.
The Early Childhood Direction Centers are acting as technical assistance centers to help answer questions and provide trainings regarding the indicators related to preschool. This includes indicators 6, 7, 8, 11, 12 of the SPP.
For more detailed information on these indicators, go to: A Brief Description of State Performance Plan (SPP) Preschool Indicators.
